Hazel's birthday and a new project

Good morning everyone. It is cold here this morning, but the sun is shining. Today is our youngest daughter's birthday. Hazel is 22 today. She was born on the very first Martin Luther King Day. She is named after 2 of her paternal grandmas. Hazel (my dh's grandma) and Fern (my MIL) I will share a few pictures of Hazel Fern, but I have only had a digital camera for 3 years, so no pictures of her when she was little. I have to do something about getting a scanner. Here she is with her son, Noah, laying on the trampoline. Her hair is really curly, so she keeps it pulled back. LOL This was taken a couple of years ago.

Here she is at our house during a BBQ in the yard.
I love this picture. See her giving her daughter, Izabella, a little kiss. She is a good mama.
And last, but not least here she is on Christmas morning, holding Izzie all pretty in pink. LOL
Hazel has grown up to be a woman I am so proud of. She is married to a wonderful man. They have 2 beautiful children. She works hard, yet finds time to call her mama on a regular basis. (grin) So happy birthday to you sweetie. You know your dad and I love you. Hope you have a great day.

I am getting ready to start a new project. It has some things in it that I have never done, so I am a little nervous, but I want to learn new things. Bren is curious about this new project, so I thought I'd share the beginning with you. LOL I found it in an old April 2000 quilting magazine. It is a wall hanging of a rooster. The picture isn't the greatest, but I think you can see how cute it is. It has paper piecing in it. I have never done that. It also has applique and piecing (no problem) and machine applique (I have done very little of this.) Isn't this cute? I just hope I can do it justice. Here are the fabrics I am planning to use on it. I may change this around some as I get to going on it. (grin)
I sewed the binding on a table runner last night, but will have to share pictures of it later. It is still wet. I have already done up most of my work, so I am clear to work on my new project. Now, to just get with it. LOL I guess I won't get anything done while sitting here on the computer. So everyone have a great day. Please come again.

Happy Birthday Hazel!

I'm going to watch that rooster project, I've never done paper pieceing before either. I love the pattern though.

Good luck with that new project. I will be interested to see how its going as well. I've never done anything like it, but I'm just getting into doing crafts and projects. I am liking what I see out there that people are doing. It will be fun to start projects.

Winona~ Just in case you don't have anywhere to put that rooster hanging when you are done...send it over here..how cute. I just love all the colors and it would fit right in with my rooster kitchen so it would have many friends...I'm just kidding about sending it, but the pattern is so nice especially with those colors. My favorite colors are fall colors..Good luck with the project.
Blessings,Joann

OMGosh!!! That rooster is wonderful...I LOVE it. I tried to do a rooster wall hanging alot like that same one, but I am terrible at paper piecing and it never went together right. I still have all the pieces. I can't wait to see yours finished!!

Happy Birthday Hazel (I just love your name and named my vacuum Hazel...I am really fond of that vacuum!)
