Happy Birthday Isaiah!

Today is our oldest son's 24th birthday. Where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday he was following his dad around like a little shadow. Now he is a grown man. I thought I'd share a few pictures of him with you. Of course these are only the past few years, since I have had a digital camera. Also, some of the pictures aren't great. I don't take great pictures, but I enjoy looking at them anyway. LOL Here he is back in 2006 on his motorcycle. I like this picture.
I didn't seem to have any decent pictures in 2007 of him. Here are a couple of pictures from Easter of last year. He is wrestling with his two nephews, Ashton and Noah. Here is a closeup shot. Doesn't he look happy for me to have the camera in his face? LOL His face is red because we had been outside watching the kids hunt eggs and it was windy and cold.
Here he is last summer behind his car. Sure wish everything was that green right now.

Here he is holding his niece, Ava. He was in the process of sitting when I got this picture. I told you I'm not a photographer. And last, but not least, this was taken at Christmas. He is holding his other niece, Izabella. Isaiah loves his nieces and nephews and they love him. Happy birthday, son. I hope you have a wonderful day! Your father and I are proud of the man you have become!
I went to the dentist yesterday and had the bad tooth pulled. This was a new dentist and he is a good one and a believer. I walked in with some Bible verses on a little piece of paper to comfort me. He thought that was neat. He started talking to me about gardening and soon I had relaxed. He got the tooth out without hurting me. That was a first as I have a very small mouth. (No laughing about that last statement, kids. LOL) Anyway, my appointment was at 7:30. We were back home by 9 a.m. I even filled out lots of paperwork in that time period. I was probably only in the chair 20-30 minutes. So it was not bad at all. Nothing like I had feared. I know this was God's doing. I prayed yesterday morning for this to be a quick and painless as possible procedure. God answered my prayers. Thank you, Father! And thank you to any of you who prayed for me.

Now on to some quilty goodness. I finally put together the star quilt along of Amanda Jean's that I did last year. I still need to add the borders, but it is already huge. It was hard to get a picture of it. I tried on the bed, but that wasn't too great. So I had dh hold it up for me. That wasn't much better. This is going to be a large quilt. Not sure how I will handle quilting this one in my lap. I may have to set my frames back up. I had trouble quilting twin size quilts in my lap. LOL I am not sure yet what I will do for the borders. I really love all of these star blocks. Thank you Amanda Jean for all the hard work you put in to doing this quilt along. I know I am months behind, but at least I now have a top.
That is it for today. I am supposed to be taking it easy for a few days. (My dentist said a couple of days, but dh says several days.) I am prone to get dry sockets from tooth extractions. I have already had 2 of them, so I don't want to do anything to dislodge the clot. Those dry sockets are not fun. Makes a regular old toothache seem like a walk in the park. LOL I am feeling pretty good today. My jaw just feels like someone slugged me, LOL but no real pain. I made myself quilt a whole hoop on the Savannah Star last night, then began the tulip quilt. It has been fun. I used leftover batting, so it is thicker than I would normally use on such a small quilt, but the quilting really shows up. (grin) I am off to sit in my rocker and quilt the day away. I could get used to this. LOL Thank you for visiting and please come again.

Winona glad to hear things went so well at the dentist.
I love the new quilt! So do you sit and hand quilt all your quilts? Do you just use running stitches?
Your son is the same age as my oldest daughter right now although she turns 25 at the end of August. Close enough I guess lol.
Have a great day and keep relaxing my friend.

Wow! I just love the quilt. Of course... green's my favorite. I never thought of doing Amanda Jean's star quilt until now. :)

The star quilt is beautiful. Quilting a queen size quilt in a hoop is a bit of work, but very doable. Winter is the best time for it cause it is too hot in the summer for such a big quilt on your lap.
So glad the dentist was quick and painless...just what we prayed for. God is good all the time!!!
Happy Birthday Isaiah...what a handsome guy (it's those eyes)!!!!

Hi,

I can't believe what a small world this is. I ran up on your blog completely by accident and noticed that your quilts and name looked familiar! I've been a "lurker" at the "homestead" message board for years (I always seem to miss when Crystal opens it up to new people) and I was so surprised when I ran across your blog! I know that you don't know me but I feel that you and all of the other ladies are old friends!
