Taking a Blog Break

Hello all,

I will be taking a couple of weeks off from the computer, so I thought I should let you all know. I will start this on Monday, but may not have time to post tomorrow. So I figured I'd get a post in tonight. Since I won't be on here for a little bit, I am going to share some pictures of recent projects.

I finished the binding on Alpine Star last week. This one was lots of fun to piece and quilt. It is another Thimbleberries pattern. Hmmm, think I might be obsessed with Thimbleberries? LOL

Here is a closeup of the center.

I used muslin on the back, so the hand quilting really shows up.

I also finished Froggy Went a Courtin' last week. This one is not a Thimbleberries pattern. I kind of came up with this one from a couple of other patterns. I bought the fabric several years ago. I started it, but it was just plain boring, so I switched things around and came up with this. I like the way this one turned out.

Here is a closeup of the star block.

Here is a close up of the square in a square block.

I used leftover fabrics from the front for the backing and the binding. I love projects where I have enough fabric from the front to make the back. Just pulls it all together for me. I used cotton batting so it crinkled when I washed it.(grin)

Here is some of what I will be doing in the next few weeks. It is the Birds and Blooms wall quilt and a couple of table runners. They are marked, sandwiched and ready to be hand quilted.

Ok, I will leave you with a project that I am so proud of. I finished this little knitted dish cloth tonight. It is the first project that I knitted by following a pattern and without anyone's help. I am thinking about using this same pattern for a scarf. I showed it to my husband and asked if he thought the pattern would be ok for a scarf for our SIL. He said 'He's a man', with this shocked expression on his face and in his voice. LOL I told him I did not intend to make it lime green, just use the pattern. I think he still thinks this is a girly pattern, so I may change the pattern. I'll have to see how I am feeling when I begin it. I am very slow at knitting (much faster at crocheting), but I am starting to enjoy it. I printed off a 23 page tutorial on knitting socks earlier. Good thing Kevin just put new cartridges in the printer. LOL

Well, that is it for me tonight. Everyone have a good couple of weeks. I hope to be back by the end of the month. Thank you for visiting.

Nothing wrong with being obsessed with Thimbleberry designs. They are good ones and always seem to turn out well.

Winona~ Oh how I will miss you not blogging but totally understand wanting to take a break. Your projects as usual are just gorgeous!! Wish I had your talent. I have not crafted for a long time. I too like thimbleberries but do not quilt :( so I have to resolve to just look at all the pretty things when I go to the library. Some times I check out the books just so I can "look" at them some more at home. I like their pint sized book, I think you have that one:) So enjoy your break but know that I will be thinking of you "see"you when you get back.
Blessings,Joann

Gonna miss you Winona but wanted to say congrats on the dishcloth. Doesn't it feel great when we make something with our own hands and all on our own at that. Have a good break even though I know you are "working" lol.

Oh Winona- I hope everything is okay!!!
It seems as though I've been on a blog break for two months now- I can't seem to get back in the swing of it, and now I've lost touch with everybody! I need to start doing better.

I'll miss you and hope you hurry back soon! Stop by my place for a visit if you get the time!

Hi Winona, thanks for stopping by my place and leaving a comment. Your quilts are gorgeous and I'm in awe of your hand quilting. I've just started dabbling in quilting and do well just doing the 4 inch squares and getting the corners to match up. lol I think the pattern you used for the dishcloth would be fine for your SIL in a "manly" color. lol
