It is cool and cloudy here today, but that is ok, because I am wanting to get my tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, and eggplant planted later. I have been watching the radar, because they keep saying we have rain coming in. In fact, we have chances of rain throughout the next week, so I would love to get my plants in the ground. Dh told me to take it easy today, but I have usually planted things during this weekend in the past, and hope to again today. (grin)
Yesterday was a fabulous day. It started out in the 40's so we hung close to the house for the first part of the day. It was Kevin's birthday so I finally got to give him the beagle quilt. He was thrilled and wanted to know when I had worked on it. LOL I told him only when he was at work. hehe I have a picture to share, but I will warn you, it is not good. I am no photographer and he hates having his picture taken. Since he posed for this and knows that I take pictures for my blog, I am assuming he knows it will be posted here. He did not tell me that I couldn't post it, so I am going to do just one picture. (grin) Here he is holding it up.
Please excuse the background. He was standing in front of one of our ratty doors. LOL I still need to get the hanging sleeve on it, then it will go behind his chair. Now to continue with our day yesterday.... We decided to go out to eat at Ryan's. I love Ryan's. This was to celebrate Kevin's birthday and Mother's Day. It was crowded, but we had fun anyway. He paid for the meal and I did the tip. I think I got the better deal. (grin) Kevin gave me some money and asked if I wanted to go to JoAnn's. Well, duh! So we went to JoAnn's. While I was inside the store, Kevin went further down the strip to Office Depot. He found a program for his new laptop and I bought a 10 inch hoop for when I am quilting smaller quilts and borders. I actually beat him back to the car. He was amazed that I was finished shopping first and only purchased one item. (grin) After JoAnn's/Office Depot, we stopped by Wal Mart, so we could get a few things. While in there, I decided to buy some bright colored fabric. I think I will make little Izabella either some jumpers or skirts for her birthday. What do you think? Think a 1 year old will like these fabrics?
Of course I found a couple of pieces to add to my stash. (grin) I also bought some snaps, webbing for Kevin's laptop bag strap, and a thing to make the strap different sizes. I think Callie approves. (Sigh) She is laying on Izzie's fabric at the moment. I just can't lay anything fabric related out without having a kitty take it over. LOL 
We picked up a sub and cookie at Subway. We stopped by my MIL's to visit and give her the treats. She enjoys these little treats. After we got home, I tilled with Katie while Kevin mowed with Big Red. Goodness, our ground was hard. We didn't do much with it last year, so it has been a couple of years since it has been tilled. I think I have it ready to set my plants out now, though. After coming in from our work, I decided to run up and spend some time with mom. I gave her a hanging basket with some sort of yellow flowers in it. I can't remember what they were, something that started with a 'G', but they were pretty. I spent a couple of hours visiting with mom, then came home to spend the rest of the evening with my husband. (grin) It was a good day and Kevin has told me a couple of times what a good day he had. I almost have mom's rooster quilt done. I just have a little more quilting along the bottom border. I hope to finish it up today. I am going to dig around in my patterns in a bit and check for a jumper pattern for Izzie. A skirt will be simple, but jumpers are cute too. I hope all of the women out there have a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Whether you are actually a mother or not, I am sure you have nurtured someone. Just enjoy your day and take it easy. Don't you think Kevin will like it? His birthday is in 2 1/2 weeks, so I finished in plenty of time. Now I am working away on my niece, Amy's quilt. I am about 1/2 done with the center of it. I hope to have it done by mid-May. Mom's birthday is May 26th. I want to get a wall quilt done for her too. Think I can get all this done in time? After these are done, I hope to just be able to relax with my quilting and work on whatever takes my fancy. I know with spring here, I will be busy in the yard and garden. Speaking of garden, I finally got our hardy veggies planted. I planted one row each of Pontiac and Yukon Gold potates, 2 rows onions, 1 row snow peas, 1 row sugar snap peas, a long row hilled up of carrots and radishes, and a row of lettuce, kohlrabi, and spinach. Now I am waiting for it to come up. My tomatoes and peppers are ready to go outside, but it is still too early for them. Here is a picture I took of my tomato plants right after I transplanted them into bigger pots. I was just playing around, so it isn't a great picture, but shows you how big they are. They are even bigger now. LOL 
I finished the blanket stitches around the running beagles last night while watching Biggest Loser. I love that show, but didn't care much for last night's episode. I guess I really don't care for the game play. I also don't care for Ron. I just think he is too bossy. Oh well, it is a game, after all. I am surprised that they all weren't sick after all of the junk that they ate during that temptation. Anyway, I will share a couple of pictures of the running dogs.

As soon as Kevin left for work, I got it out and decided to get it sandwiched. Since this will be a wall quilt and not receive a lot of wear/washing, I decided to use leftover pieces of batting in it. I used my walking foot and a wide zigzag stitch to sew the pieces together. I just butted them up end to end and sewed. It should work ok for this project and I used up some of my batting pieces. (grin)
I now have it all sandwiched and pin basted. As soon as I get off here, I plan to get started quilting it. I marked the quilting lines last night, but they don't show up in the picture. It should quilt up quickly.

It is my yellow onion sets and Yukon Gold and Pontiac potatoes. We decided to order these from Jung's this year. We usually purchase these around here, but haven't had good luck the past few years, so decided to give Jung's a chance. Of course, it will be a while before we can get them planted. I am sure it will be at least another week if not longer before we can get in the garden. Especially since they are calling for more rain in the next week. Spring will get here some day. LOL 
I was straightening up the pile of projects that stay beside my rocker last night. I found this table runner. It only needed a little bit of primitive embroidery around some cherries to be ready to quilt, so I finished that up. 
Please excuse the messiness on my cutting table. I just can't work on things without leaving a mess. LOL Normally, tomorrow I would be taking Kevin's check to the bank and probably getting a few groceries, but since I have to go to mom's, I guess that will be put off till Saturday. It's just as well. Kevin's new glasses finally came in. We both ordered them the same day, but he has to have safety approved glasses where he works. So it took about 10 days longer for him to get his. We will pick them up Saturday. I know it is grocery shopping time since the fridge is getting bare. (grin) I will work on a list in a bit. Now, I guess I had better get back to the beagle quilt. I think I will sandwich this little runner and put it away for a while, or I won't get done what I need to get done. LOL Anyone else have that problem? Doesn't is look like it will be fun to quilt? This just may make me work harder on the projects I need done before May. 
Well, on to important stuff. (grin) I finished the borders on the disappearing nine patch for Amy. I know you are dying to know which fabric I picked. 
I took some leftover pink fabric and made little 4-patches for the corners. I hope I have enough of the green for the binding. It turned out 57 inches by 67 inches. That should be big enough for Amy to curl up under. Here is a closeup of one of the corners. 
This is all of the pink and pink paisley fabric that I have left. Is this cutting it close or what? LOL
Well, I think I will get back to work on the beagle quilt. I can only work on it while Kevin is at work. I also know myself well enough that I need to get it done while I am in the mood. If another project pops into my head, I will be off and running with it. LOL That is why I have so many projects going at once. If I decided Ihad to finish everything I had started before I could start another project, I wouldn't be able to work on anything new for a couple of years. LOL Everyone have a great day. Sorry for so many pictures of the beagle quilt, but I couldn't decide which ones to use, so I used them all. LOL I have been quilting away on the Savannah Star quilt. It is about half done now. I would like to get it done before I start quilting on another project, but I'll see. Sometimes I just have to start a new project. (grin)
I took a picture of it with my hand laying on it so you can see how huge this bag is. LOL
Here is the inside. I had this checked fabric in my stash. It was definitely not cotton. I melted part of it when I touched it with my iron. I suspected it had some polyester in it. So I had to turn the iron down for the lining and back up for the outer fabric. I am glad to get that checked fabric used up. I am not really happy with this bag, but it is done. (grin)

I finished sewing the binding on the Tulip quilt a little while ago. I am trying to use up my scrap batting so the batting for this little quilt was thicker than I usually use for wall quilts. It turned out pretty good, though. It was fun quilting.

Of course, it wouldn't be one of my projects without showing the back.(grin) Doesn't this make you think of spring?
I had my fabric all folded and put away, then decided to see how many projects that I have started, but not finished. I found 6 bins with started projects and that is just the ones that were easy to get to. So now I have them all drug out. I have 3 baby quilts started (not counting the panel Milah sent me) and some table runners and a couple of large quilts. These bins are stacked up around my ironing board, so it is a tight fit, but if I don't leave them in my way I won't get them finished. (grin) I started on K's beagle quilt. I have the center square fused on, but have to do the embroidery on it yet. I think I am going to do a hand blanket stitch around the pieces. I also started on the borders. I am doing a different border than I have ever done before. I tried using templates. Do you draw around them or what? Didn't like that. So then I tried rotary cutting them, but it was an odd angle and let's just say I didn't have enough patience. So I am paper piecing these borders. The whole quilt will only be abut 30" square, so not alot of paper piecing, but I cringe with each piece because it wastes so much fabric. (sigh) Here is the center square. I think it will look better once I have the embroidery done on it. I think my dh will love it. I have half of the paper piecing done, only 12 more blocks to go. I hope to get the main quilt together tomorrow, then I can start working on the quilting next week while dh is at work. 
I just heard on the tv that winter is coming back. Not sure what that means, but hoping it doesn't mean snow. I am all prepped and ready for spring. LOL We got the wheel bearing put back in the pickup, so both vehicles are now in working order again. I am so blessed to be married to a mechanical man. He has saved us so much money over the years. When I say 'we', you of course know that I really mean dh. LOL I am just the 'go-for', but it saves him time and steps. Next on the list of repairs, is our Troy tiller. For some reason it won't start. Dh doesn't seem to think it is serious, so I am sure he will get it fixed in time for my spring planting.
